Confusion

Got an itch, but I can't scratch it,
Had a thought, but couldn't catch it.
Made an offer, wouldn't match it --
What am I gonna do?
Heard a tune, just couldn't swing it,
Lost my script, and had to wing it --
Never known just when to bring it.
What am I gonna do?

Chorus:
Cause I'm lost --
In the warfare side of peace,
On the starting line of cease,
  In my prison of release.
  Just lost --
On the up side of  my down,
On the smile side of a frown.
In the country of the town,

I took my yesterdays tomorrow,
Gave away what I can't borrow,
Wanted joy, I ordered sorrow,
What am I gonna do?
Think the start has finally ended,
What got fixed cannot be mended --
Didn't fake it, just pretended;
What am I gonna do?

Chorus:
Yes, I'm lost --
On the left side of all right,
  In noontime's blackest night,
On the solid ground of flight.
  I'm lost
In the breathing of the drowned,
  On the tension of unwound,
In the missing of the found.

Blue is black when light is redder,
Feel so bad, I must be better,
When I get dry, I'm so much wetter,
What am I gonna do?
Necessities may not be needed,
The final word's been superseded,
The wildest warning's never heeded,
What am I gonna do?

Chorus:
Cause I'm lost,
In the laughter of a frown,
On the tragic half of clown,
  In anonymous reknown.
  I'm lost,
In the winter wind of spring,
On the taking side of bring,
On the peasant side of king.

Judges Comments:

These lyrics swing! Excellent use of opposites and thoughtful choice of ideas. This writing style has a well developed rhythm behind the words. Nice hooks, both, "What am I gonna do?" and "I'm lost" in the chorus. This is just great writing. I hear this as sort of a R&B shuffle. Probably a faster pace with good "brushed" drum work. I think a sort of echo vocal style, emphasis shifting mid  line, would work well here. I enjoyed these lyrics and would really like to hear them set to music. Lots of fun.

Way to go Bob Clayton , come on and send us some more.
