| You Know My Heart
I walk the journey of my life
upon a path set out for me.
Predestined long before my birth.
But is this really how it should be?
I know there are many roads
that promise to lead me to you,
but how do I choose the one
that alone will prove to be true?
For I know I often have traveled
on roads paved with self interests and sin,
as I've searched for my purpose in life,
seeking prosperity and recognition.
And along the way I've faltered,
fallen hard to the ground on my knees,
groping blindly among the nettles,
broken and bleeding, seeking release.
I have been fooled and lured and pushed
into thoughts, actions and words
that have tainted my soul like an ink blot
left indelibly scorched and burned.
I know I am only a human,
fallible, faulty and weak,
ever striving for a drop of perfection
so it is your love that I seek.
But you, you know my heart,
it's full of love and hope,
ever searching for the answers
and the strength to help me cope.
And you, you know it's contents,
every tiny secret hidden there a
for it is your seed that lies within it,
growing love I need to share.
Wanting to love and to be loved,
to know joy and inner peace,
is what my heart is beating fora
won't you say you'll give me these?
