 Prenatal Blues

I am so pregnant and it feels so bad
It's the worst pregnancy a girl's ever had
My stomach is hurtin' and my hips they are too
And I'll tell you this hubby it's all because of you
Got the prenatal blues
The prenatal blues
I really wish honey I could put you in my shoes

My back it is achin' my feet they are sore
I retain so much water that I can't hold no more
I wake up so hungry but I can't eat a lick
'Cos when you make bacon it makes me feel sick
Got the prenatal blues
The prenatal blues
I really wish honey I could put you in my shoes

I get so tired but I just can't sleep
I must have counted half a million sheep
I feel so fat and my clothes don't fit
I tell you man I'm getting' sick of it

I'm getting' that feeling down close to my womb
I'm beggin' you darling let me use the bathroom
When this baby is born be your turn to pay
To buy all those diapers you'll work night and day
Got the prenatal blues
The prenatal blues
I really wish honey I could put you in my shoes

I can't bend down I can't see my knees
I can't eat fries greasy steak or cheese
But still I'm fat and my clothes don't fit
I tell you man I'm gettin' sick of it
I am so pregnant and it feels so bad
It's the worst pregnancy a girl's ever had
My stomach is hurtin' and my hips they are too
And I'll tell you this hubby it's all because of you
Got the prenatal blues
The prenatal blues
I really wish honey I could put you in my shoes

Judges Comments:

I believe a good blues tune makes you "feel" something. The words tell the story while the music sets the mood. Here, the lyrics are so well written, they set the mood. There is already a bluesy sort of swing to the rhythm of the words. These lyrics express, very well, this wonderful and trying condition. Nice hook "I really wish honey I could put you in my shoes". Oh yeah, a female lead vocal and backup. I hear a medium to faster paced rhythm, with a predominate bass. The words are the focus here. This could easily be a good crowd pleaser. Great writing.

Alright Scott Rhoades, Francis Greene, please send us some more.
