A Wilted Bouquet

A wilted bouquet tied up with lace,
a girl on her bed with tears down her face
by the look in her eye
her love has turned dead
just like the flowers and the lines that he said

Don't send me flowers, they'll only die
don't tell me you care, cuz it's just a lie
   it just comes too easy
   buyin' roses and daisies,
so I will fill in cuz your lonely tonight

A man across town in a floral store
thinkin if he buys her flowers,
she'll come back for sure
he just don't know it,
this time he's really blown it
cuz when shows up to knock on her door
she says

don't bring me flowers, they'll only die
don't tell me you care cuz I know its a lie
   you think it's so easy
   buyin roses and daisies
but I ain't fill in cuz your lonely tonight

A man kneeling down with tears down his face
he's holding a woman inside his embrace
he knows this is the last time he'll ever kiss her,
before she lies down, she leans up and whispers,

don't bring me flowers, they'll only die
we'll meet again, so baby don't cry
   daisies are pretty
   but there will be plenty
in God's kingdom in heaven way up in the sky.

Judges Comments:

Carrie has done something here in these lyrics to which we should all pay attention. Each verse is not just a continuation of the last; they are different. From each verse we enter the chorus at a different angle so each time the chorus is a different color. This is technique I would like to see more of. Carrie, you have a bright future as a lyricist! Smart writing.

Bravo, Carrie, please submit another.
