| Charlie Won't Be Riding Anymore
It was just another Friday
He was heading down the Highway
Almost home, just another mile or two
When a car came out of nowhere
No time to think, or say a small prayer
Just like that, Charlie Baker's life was through.
A school bus was passing
As the red lights were flashing
His cycle just lay there, on it's side
On the school bus, was his Sallie Ann
She didn't know her father was the man
"I hope that wasn't Daddy" she cried
Oh, it was August twenty-seventy, nineteen ninety-nine
He'd worked all night, just like every night before
A boy named Jason had killed a man
Took the Daddy of Sallie Ann
Now, Charlie won't be riding anymore
The thumping of the chopper blades
filled the morning air
And the angels flew beside him, all the way
But, Charlie never knew a thing
For death was waiting in the wings
His heart would beat within him, just one more day
We laid Charlie in the ground
Tears and flowers were all around
Sallie Ann could only stare in disbelief
Oh, her little life had been distroyed
She was her Daddy's pride and joy
She cursed the boy who took him, in her grief
Now, it was August twenty-seventh, nineteen
ninety-nine
He'd worked all night, just like every night before
A boy named Jason had killed a man
Took the Daddy of Sallie Ann
Now Charlie won't be riding anymore
No, Charlie won't be riding anymore
Jason sent red roses too....
Said... "I apologize.. to you"
(Goodbye, Chuck)
