Sad Souvenirs

Up in the closet,
The back of the shelf,
A box full of memories,
I keep for myself,

Strange I should have them,
After these years,
I can't seem to part with,
These sad souvenirs.

Chorus:
And over and over,
We try it again,
Collecting love letters,
Remembering when,
And I'm here with my sad souvenirs.

Long lonely nights,
Leave me little to do,
But let my mind wander,
To thinking of you

Somewhat sentimental,
But I love the tears,
Wept in the presence,
Of sad souvenirs

Chorus:
And over and over,
We try it again,
Collecting love letters,
Remembering when,
And I'm here with my sad,
Here with my sad,
I love these sad souvenirs.

Lyrics: Sad Souvenirs
Author: Dan Davis

Judges Comments:

Dan has managed to capture on of the most complex of human emotions - that there is some melancholy niceness that goes with the hurt of a lost relationship. Few of us can or will own up to this. But whether you deny it or don't, it is true. 'I love the tears, wept in the presence of Sad Souvenirs' is a tremendous line, giving us an extraordinary look into a man's heart and soul.    Thank you for trusting us, Dan.

Excellent, Dan, send us another!
