| Where I Left You
I left my shoes
on a street named Boulevard,
A whole month's bills
in some rich man's yard.
I left my watch behind
at the Scenic View,
but I can't remember
where I left you.
I left the Dollar Store -
Didn't have a cent.
I let my freedom go
to see how much it meant.
I had to leave my home -
That sky was much too blue,
but I haven't got a clue
why I left you.
Always picturing a mirror
with a new face,
Imagining the blank page
of a new place.
Looking off in the distance
for the path of least resistance -
Then out the door barefoot.
Gone without a trace.
I left my youth
beside the Seventh Sea.
Or should I say
my youth left me.
I left my heart somewhere.
Where, I wish I knew.
But I guess it's right around
where I left you.
I left my heart somewhere.
God, I wish I knew.
But I know it must be there
where I left you.
