Swear it Wasn't a Dream

Laying in my bed with nothing to do
About to fall asleep dreaming of you
Then, somewhere from out of the night
You were there standing in the soft light

Like a dream, you came to lay with me
Couldn't believe this was really happening
It seemed it was real, or was it fantasy?
Oh baby, baby were you there with me?

(Chorus)
'Cuz I swear this really wasn't a dream
It's crazy, though, but baby, it seemed
You were there, loving, softly touching
I swear it's true, you were there with me

When the morning came, things were the same
Was it real or just a memory?
I want to believe, want it to be
Baby, baby were you really with me?

Bridge
Were you an angel let loose from heaven?
Did you hear my cries deep in the night?
Must be no boundary to your lovin
Will you come back if I close my eyes?

(Chorus)
'Cuz I swear this really wasn't a dream
It's crazy, though, but baby, it seemed
You were there, loving, softly touching
I swear it's true, you were there with me

You were there, I swear, lovin on me

Judges Comments:

These are very well written lyrics. Each time you read them, you get more. Their structure is of particular interest and pleasure. The multiple and mid line rhymes lend themselves to nice melodic and pretty music. An easy jazz venue of love and life. This could be the light and dreamy sort of song you hear in the spring. I hear a mid to slower tempo with soft and low female vocals. The right treatment of brass would give it a little, occasional punch. So much is possible. We are going to watch this writer.

What a touch Sherrie Davis, please, won't you send us some more.
