| The Underneath
He wiped the dirt from his face
He was ready to leave this place
Marching forward in line
He gave the guards a surprise
Another riot- it's all they thought
Who cares if an inmate's shot?
But he escaped the Underneath
For his own personal needs
Wasn't better once outside
Took what was left of his life
Now he's poorer than before
He has no power anymore
He sinks about everyday
It's the only other way
No one cares to see him hurt
His life cannot get much worse
He was left here for nothing- no money no food
Not all of us are as special as you
Born in the gutters and raised in the streets
Subject to corpses that rot by his feet
Save his soul he's gonna die
Don't a have a care in my eye
God is not on his side
Payment for killing his wife
Once inside the Underneath
You'd think you'd go mad in a week
But once outside on the streets
You would wish that you could leave
Tomorrow screams for a drink
But the water level sinks
No more luck for today
He would get none anyway
Tried to kill himself twice
But he's too weak to lift a knife
Tried to jump from a cliff
But he couldn't get up on it
Left here for nothing- no money no food
Not all of us are as lucky as you
Born in the gutters and lived in the streets
Rejected the fine life of the underneath
May God have mercy on your soul
And pull you out from this black hole
He's done so much, you've done nothing
And you do not deserve anything
Have you ever been
To the Underneath
Life may be tough though
There's a bed to sleep
A prison is paradise
Compared to the streets
Sometimes you go hungry
For over two weeks
May God have mercy on your brain
And save your hide once more again
He's saved your soul times before this
But now waist deep in a world of shit
Left here for nothing-no money no food
Some of us people are jealous of you
Born in the gutters and died in the streets
Wishing that you were in the Underneath
