| Reactions Three
(verse 1)
When Destruction greets our neighbor,
Or Damnation rings his bell,
When his blood and bone are mortar and stone
That widen the road to Hell,
Reactions three occur to he who cares to ponder well.
(climb 1)
"I'm sorry that it happened", says the person of good will.
"I hope it never does again - I pray it never will".
But in that secret heart of hearts a small voice mutters quietly,
In unrefreshing honesty: "Better him than me."
(instrumental improv)
(verse 2)
When War walks rampant on foreign land,
And rockets light the sky,
When fire rains upon little girls
Whose mothers watch them die,
Reactions three occur to he who dares to ponder why.
(climb 2)
"I hate the government", states the rational man, no effort spent.
"There is no God, or none who cares", as another day of broadcasts
air.
But the third reaction that comes to all,
Like War itself , with its clarion call,
Vowing no surrender, no retreat: "Man, I'm hungry - let's go
eat."
(intrumental improv, then fade)
