I Love You Now and Forever

Having you
Has been more than
Ever wanting to

I can't imagine
A day any different
I am full

For you are all
I never knew
What true love meant

Sometimes it's hard
While we find our way
But those moments of joy
Just brighten the day

With your smile
It's all new to you
We're everything that you know
You're the song that we sing
We love and watch you grow

Can't see too far ahead
Just focus on here and now
Enjoy the learning that you do
To share in it all someway somehow

Your independence grows
Day by day
You develop a voice
With it you say

What is your wish
You express your will
You is a new word
It sounds new still

We respect this development
You must grow
You must redefine extents

We watch and help
As best we can
To nurture growth
To lend a hand

When you need us
We are your safety net
You still need us
Not too big yet

But soon you will be
This is the cycle
You'll want to go free
And we're left with only memory

Of tiny feet
Of a flirty little dance
A precious treat
Of happenstance

Of all those things
That growing is about
Will someday seem
So long ago

Bless you much and forever
I love you now and forever
Help me to share
As much as I can
But to remember these days forever

With love and care
If only I possibly can

Judges Comments:

This one makes my heart warm. It's on the long side, but it flows smoothly through its development. I'm thinking something like a ballad or theme song. I hear pretty, soothing music. Probably some flute and violins. Yes, I'm serious. All and all, it sounds like the kind of reflective recounting of good times, life times, past. I enjoyed this one very much.

Good one Tom and Sally Drake, now send us some more.
