I'm The One

I picked you up, then washed you clean
I said believe, then I'll forgive
Cling into my arms and feel my love
I'm the one who will set you free

Bow your knees and make the choice
Lift your head and raise your voice
You can't get lost, just follow me
I'm the one who will set you free

CHORUS
I'm the one who walked up Calvary
I'm the one who died for all your sins
I'm the one and Holy Son of God
I'm the one who rose up from the grave
I'm the one and Holy Son of God
I'm the one who will set you free

I did not say it would be easy
But only with me will you be free
Don't get worried for tomorrow's
I'm the one who will set you free

CHORUS
I'm the one who walked up Calvary
I'm the one who died for all your sins
I'm the one and Holy Son of God
I'm the one who rose up from the grave
I'm the one and Holy Son of God
I'm the one who will set you free (3x)

Judges Comments:

Here again is a song written from Jesus' point of view (POV). And I will say again that I would not presume to write lyrics this way. I don't know why, but it causes some discomfort. We can see how this POV - 1st person singular - illicits emotion. These lyrics considered in the 2nd person singular are more comfortable and conventional, but they lose their impact. So we can see how important the POV really is. Bold choice of perspective, Richard!

Sweet, Richard,  please send another!
