| Homeward Bound
Back in my childhood-my mother would call me home-
And, I didn't want to leave- I was having too much fun-
I cried "Please let me stay- I don't want to leave my friends"
But, she'd wipe away my tears- and gently say again....
It's time to go home-
Come on now, take my hand
She'd ease away my sorrow
Like only a mama can
And as we walked together-
A smile replaced my frown
I soon was running and laughing
As I was Homeward Bound
Fishing in the river- a picnic in the sand
Catching tiny Blue Gills, with the worms in an old tin-can
The time flew by so quickly- soon Daddy came around
and said "It's time to go home now the sun is going down"
It's time to go home-
Come on now take my hand
He'd wipe away my tears
Like only a Daddy can
And as we walked together-
A smile replaced my frown
I soon was running and laughing
As I was Homeward Bound
The hours have passed so swiftly
The days have all flown by
Where have all the years gone?
Lord, they just seemed to fly
My body's growing weaker- it's hard to get around
As I turn my eyes to Heaven
I seem to hear this sound....
It's time to go home-
Come on now, take my hand
He'll wipe away my tears
Like only Jesus can
And as we walk together
A smile will replace my frown
I'll soon be running and laughing....
As I am Homeward Bound
