Peace of Mind

I wiped the tears from my face
Picked flowers in the rain
I took a walk in my own footsteps
To Hell and back again

Full circle led to nowhere
As the shadows fell away
I skipped stones across the water
No peace of mind today

So if you see me out there
Well I may have lost my way
That fire that burned so brightly
Went and flamed-out yesterday

I cleared the cobwebs from my mind
Placed flowers on your stone
Took a ride out to the West-Coast
I was out there on my own

Slipped a-little-somethin' in my tea
Watched night turn in to day
Then I spoke in to the mirror
I'm alright, I'm OK

So if you see me out there
Well I may have lost my way
Knowing not what tomorrow brings
Death takes no holiday

So if you see me out there
I think I lost my way
My world has turned to darkness
No peace of mind today

So if you see me out there
Won't you help me find my way
I got no peace of mind today
No peace of mind today
I got no piece of anything today

Judges Comments:

Paul plays a trick on us here. The title seems to indicate that this is a sort of mellow song, but upon reading the lyrics we find it is not. Paul shows excellent word choices and combinations. His descriptions are vivid, almost like a movie script. All of these attributes culminate in flawless delivery of message and mood. Obviously, Paul is no novice at this craft!

Nicely done, Paul,  please send us more!
